THE FUENTES DEL ALGAR (No website)
The Waterfalls of Algar are spectacular, and well worth a trip to see them. Set in a natural beauty spot among big mountains, 45 mins from Moraira on the road to Callosa from Taberna. There are many different walks you can do here, most taking you along paths that run beside the beautiful river as it comes tumbling down the mountains. Swim in the crystal clear rock pools and splash about under the waterfalls!
 
VERGEL SAFARI PARK Lying northwards just beyond Ondara, about 1/2 hour’s drive from Moraira is the famous, and great fun Vergel Safari Park. There are lions, tigers, leopards and wolves roaming free in the park, you drive through in your car which allows the lions and tigers to come right up to you!! CAVES - Cuevas del Canelobre - Situated about 24kms northeast of Alicante, near Busot the “Cuevas Del Canelobre” are well worth a visit. The huge chamber is open daily for visits, and at times is used for concerts and Folk Festivals. The “Cova De Les Calaveres” (Skull Cave) is situated near the village of Benidolieg, inland from Denia, about 40 minutes drive from Calpe. Beaches & hidden bays close to Moraira
CUMBRE DEL SOL This is a nice place for an afternoon out. It's only 5 min's out of Moraira on the Benitachell Rd, turning right at Rusty's bar. There are several walking routes, all with viewpoints for some impressive views. There are beautiful hidden bays along the coastline, most of which you can walk down to.
 
Playa del Portet - A small cove with a sandy beach, crystal clear waters and a few restaurants near by, only 5 min's from Moraira town.
Playa de l'Ampolla - situated by the castle (Moraira) with a gentle shelving sandy beach. Bars and cafes all close by.
Platgetes - A small sandy beach with rocks, which make this beach ideal for snorkeling. There are many bars near by.
Cala Punta Estrella - A very small rocky cove, reached by a very steep stairway cut into the cliffs. Rocky shelves everywhere, making it ideal for snorkeling. Little steps drop down into the clear blue sea. No amenities.
 
HIDDEN COVES can be found along the coast road, heading towards Calpe. This makes for a lovely afternoon drive, to find all the little hidden bays!
 
Playa L'Andrago - This is a small pretty cove, with no sand; The Algas bar / restaurant is close by where you can get snacks and drinks.
Cala Baladrar - Beautiful little bay, no sand, rocky. Small bar offering drinks and snacks. BBQ's in the evenings. (Summer months)
Cala Advocat - Pretty cove with good parking. Small refreshment bar near a very small sandy beach. Rock cliffs and good views of the Calpe rock.
Cala Pinets - Beautiful small rocky cove. No amenities.
Cala Fustera - Sandy bay, good for swimming. Bars and a restaurant.
 
BOOT SALES / MARKETS
Moraira's market is held in the big car park in Moraira town, it starts early on Friday mornings. Calpe's market is on a Saturday morning.

Monday - Denia, Tuesday - Altea, Wednesday - Teulada, Wednesday - Rastro Calpe, Wednesday - Jalon, Thursday - Javea, Friday - Moraira, Saturday - Calpe. Saturday - Rastro Jalon, Sunday - Rastro Pego.
For those who enjoy browsing round markets and second hand stalls, the flea markets at Jalon and Pedreguer are well worth a visit. The largest of these is held on Sunday mornings at Pedreguer, just off the N332, about 20 minutes drive from Calpe. On Saturday mornings the peaceful little town of Jalon, surrounded on all sides by beautiful mountains hosts it’s weekly market and car boot sale in the dry river bed alongside the town. Both of these are excellent places to visit for those of you who enjoy bargain hunting!
